Yangon & Dala Sightseeing by Trishaw
The Tour will start just beside The Strand Hotel where to meet up with your private driver who will escort you throughout the trip . Firstly The Trishaw will take you along Bo Aung Kyaw Road and stop by The Cathedral of St Mary the Virgin known as Yangon’s biggest Roman Catholic church. Its neo-Gothic style is reminiscent of cathedrals built around the same time in northern Europe . and then we will keep on rolling to the port of Myanmar Marine Fisheries where to enjoy the interesting daily activities of fishers men after that you will take a short break at local tea short where to have the chit-chat with your private driver over the cup of local tea . And then continue your trishaw ride to The Historic Colonial Building Of City “The Secretariat also known The Ministers’s Building where General Aung San & six cabinet ministers were assassinated. Then move to Bogalay Street Market where to buy some local snacks to donate to Buddhist monks in Dala . After that your private trishaw driver will take you to Nanthida Jetty by riding through Pansodan and Merchant Road for you to observe the Yangon’s great colonial buildings. Upon arrival to Nanthida Jetty , your driver will buy the return ferry tickets and then take the ferry which runs every 10 minutes, so you don’t have to wait long for too long .
On board, you will very likely be pestered by small children selling food to feed the seagulls, (for some reason here people get really excited about feeding birds). Just make polite conversation and advise them that you aren’t interested. These kids should be in school rather than working so please don’t contribute to this by purchasing anything. The ferry ride will be your first insight as to what daily life is like there.
What is Dala
Dala is one of the lesser-known highlights , located in the southern rural township of Yangon. The only easy way to reach the land is by public boat over Yangon river which offers you first insight of what daily life is going on both sides of the river. Soon enough around 15 minutes, the busy pier of Dala comes to your sight from which we head out on a local trishaw to watch people go about their daily lives on colorful markets, tea shops or discover stunning pagoda of ShweSayan. There are always great chances to interact with friendly locals, learn about their culture and the way they cherish their lives.
Upon arrival to Dala , visit CHU CHU Social Enterprise – Six Family Members work with recycled plastics to create new fabric, which they use to make purses, bags, and household goods then continue your ride to a little fishing village of Dala. After that you are to pay a visit to Monastic Education Center where the free education services are provided to the kids of needy families and meet up with school kids and donate your prucahsed local sancks to monk of the monastery .
Then you will be brought back to jetty to take the ferry back to Yangon . Your friendly local escort ( Private Trishaw Driver ) will say “ Good Bye “ to you at the jetty in Dala .
